KAT Twin Switchable Mango for Andrew Guyton

Andrew asked us if we could provide an attenuator that could be switched via a stomp switch, between two adjustable levels, such that when playing live with his AC30 at full volume, he could easily toggle between a preset ‘Rhythm’ level and a louder ‘Solo’ level when required.

The ideal bass unit to modify was the Twin Mango as it already had an isolated pair of attenuators within one enclosure.

We simply designed and installed a mains power-supply and relay switching circuit that could be controlled via a separate foot controller.

We designated the left side, or channel 1 of the Mango (we’ll call it the green corner) to the ‘Rhythm’ level and the right side, or channel 2 (red corner) to the ‘Solo’ level.

The central power-on LED on the front panel was replaced with a Bi-Colour LED which now indicates either Red or Green depending on which channel is selected.

The footswitch in mounted into a standard Hammond Die Cast box along with a second Bi-Colour LED, which, again, gives Andy the feedback indication he needs in order to know which channel is currently selected.

The footswitch is connected to the Mango via a 5m XLR-XLR lead.
